Abstract


The self-assembly of supramolecular molecular architectures with inner cavities has received intense attention owing to their implications in recognition, storage and catalysis. With the use of rigid, highly directional multibranched ligands to bind to coordinatively unsaturated metal complexes, series of high symmetry cages have been synthesized.The main contents in my thesis include:1. Design and synthesis of chiral bidentate Biphenol-β-diketone ligands: (R)-H2L and (S)-H2L.2. Chiral nanosized molecular adamantoids of Fe4L6 and Ga4L6 are assembled based on C2 symmetric biphenolβ-diketonate and C3 symmetric-trivalent metal ions and have been structurally characterized by IR, NMR, ESI-MS, EPR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.3. The chiral optic and electric properties of the self-assembled cages were studied by using UV-Vis, Fluorescence and CD, as well cyclic voltammogram(CV).
