Abstract


The original art was regarded as a "mysterious power" and was worshipped along with the religion. So the art was more worshipped than appreciated. The aesthetic value which is very important nowadays was completely submerged in the divine radiance at that time.As the development of technology, the emergence of division of labor, art was no longer worshipped but focused on the aesthetic value. However, the feature that both art and religion were born naturally makes them have a close relationship, which lasted for thousands of years.The emergence of mechanical reproduction breaks the domination of the aesthetic value. Under the new conditions, film as the representative of the emerging art quickly took place of the classical art and became the main stream. At the same time, the display value of the film quickly captured the territory of aesthetic value. Since then, the divinity of art was gradually weakened and the arts began to reveal the secular side to the public. With the prominence of display value, the art rules of classical period became weak.In the post-modern society, the difference between art and goods are forced to be neglected. Art has a trend of be commercialized, equivalent to the products. This trend deeply changed people’s cognition, traditional way of life and values; even worse, it made us lack of faith. Art can no longer assume the duty of guiding people forward. All arts are placed in the context of consumer culture and became part of people’s consumption. Art had completely become a tool to help people get spiritual pleasure. And you can say that art faced an unprecedented crisis. However, it doesn’t mean that art becomes dispensable. In times when people lack spiritual beliefs, it is art that should re-assume its artistic responsibilities to help us find a new spiritual home.
