Abstract
|
Fluorescent dye doped silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) have many advantages over other materials. They are not subject to microbial attack, there is no swelling or porosity change with the change of pH, etc. Make them perfect biocompatible materials. It will protect the fluorescent dye from bleaching by surrounding environment after doped inside silica matrix. Therefore, fluorescent dye-doped silica nanoparticles are widely used in many application fields especially in bioanalytical range. In chapter two, a fluorescent ligand, N-(quinoline-8-yl)-2-(3-triethoxysilyl-propylamino)-acetamide (Q1OEt) was synthesized. Its structure has been characterized by NMR and MS. Silica nanoparitcles were prepared by the reverse microemulsion method. SEM images showed that the size of the SiNPs was uniform and small. The IR spectra confirmed that. Q1OEt was successfully grafted onto the surface of silica nanoparitcles. In chapter three, the HEPES buffer in 30% ethanol water solution of pH 7 was used throughout. The properties of the Cu(II) ion fluorescent silica nano-sensor were discussed in detail. The sensitivity and selectivity of the sensor for Cu(II) ion were determined under optimum conditions. The nano-sensor exhibits a linear dynamic response range for Cu2+ from 2.0×10-6 to 2.0×10-5 mol/L, with a detection limit of 3.8×10-1 mol/L. Other alkali, alkaline earth, and transitional metal ions had no significant interference on Cu2+ determination. This silica nanosensor has promising application ability for the determination of Cu2+ ion in real water samples and biological tissues.
