Abstract


Ministry of Education, enacted in 2001 , the latest high school English curriculum standards that high school English teacher in teaching should focus on cultivating students' reading ability , this provision fully reflects the teaching of reading in high school English teaching in an important position . Currently, the high school English reading text content , a wide range of topics , can be called a high school English teacher training students reading comprehension , especially an important channel for effective reading strategies . However, most of the high school English teacher has been fully aware of the importance of the teaching of reading , high school English reading classroom teaching in most cases, the traditional model of reading instruction . The drawbacks of this model is that too much emphasis on the article, grammar, vocabulary and surface meaning to explain , while ignoring the penetration of the overall architecture of the article to explain and cultural backgrounds . This also led to many students a lot of effort , but did their English reading ability has been greatly improved . The schema theory formed in the mid - 1870s , the theory that the richness of the reader schematic knowledge is closely related to its ability to understand the chapter , high school English teaching of reading is very important guiding significance . Based on this theory and the relevant provisions of the new curriculum , high school English teacher in the day - to - day teaching of reading should get rid of the shackles of the traditional model of reading instruction , and will strive to improve the students construct and activate their existing schema knowledge ability as a top priority , only in this way can students a deep understanding of the content of the article , improve reading comprehension lay a solid foundation . This paper analyzes the main obstacles facing high school students in English reading and the lack of the traditional model of reading instruction , combined with schema theory to make a detailed discussion on how to more effectively improve students' reading comprehension . In this study, the use of a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, validated through the analysis of the results of questionnaires , experiments and interviews schema theory is applied to the necessity and importance of high school English reading teaching . The results show that the schema theory - oriented high school English reading teaching model can effectively improve the students' English reading comprehension ability and high school English reading teaching efficiency .
