Objective : To investigate the signet ring cell carcinoma of the clinical and pathological features and prognostic factors. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 2005 to 2009 by the Court of pathologically confirmed 59 cases of signet ring cell carcinoma and 169 cases of non- signet ring cell carcinoma in patients with clinical and pathological data , and prognostic factors were analyzed statistically. Results: The surgical pathology is signet ring cell carcinoma of the main diagnostic method , endoscopy biopsy and surgical pathology consistent rate of 62.7% . Signet ring cell carcinoma and non- signet ring cell carcinoma in age, sex, tumor location , stage, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, there are significant differences in tumor markers , tumor diameter , vascular invasion , surgical approach, recurrence and no significant difference on the transfer type . And gastric non- signet ring cell carcinoma compared with signet ring cell carcinoma occurs in younger (P = 0.001), female (P lt; 0.001), occur in the antrum (P = 0.001), a higher proportion of patients with early (52.5%: 17.2%, P = 0.003). Advanced signet ring cell carcinoma lymph node metastasis (N3) higher (64.3%: 33.8%, P = 0.004), the most common type in Borrmoann Ⅳ (lt; 0.001). Signet ring cell carcinoma and non- signet ring cell carcinoma no significant difference in survival (P = 0.11), signet ring cell carcinoma 3-year survival was 79 %, non- signet ring cell carcinoma 3 year survival rate was 66.9% . Survival analysis showed signet ring cell carcinoma itself is not prognostic factors , type of surgery , depth of invasion , lymph node metastasis , stage, age , tumor location, vascular invasion is an independent prognostic factor in gastric cancer . Lymph node metastasis , stage, type of surgery is a signet ring cell carcinoma of the independent prognostic factors. Conclusion: signet ring cell carcinoma has a special clinical and pathological features , a higher proportion of patients with early gastric signet ring cell carcinoma and non- signet ring cell carcinoma no significant difference in survival .
