Transcripts written in ancient Zhuang Characters are one of the most important part of Zhuang literature. Scripts of Preaching and Teaching Taoism in Zhuang Characteristics, trancribed by Preacher Lan Folong of Zhuang ethnic group in 1905, is store in the Ancient Books Research Institute of Minzu University of China now, listed in "The Third Batch of Natioanl Precious Ancient Books". The script, Serial Number 02983, is made from fibre crops, thread binding,25*18cm,99pages, few lines in each page, which are mostly ran by five characters each line, seldomly occupied by seven characters each line, mixed with loose sentences, commas and stops marked in red. Occasionally, there are explanatory notes for ancient Zhuang characters which occupy almost half of the whole script. In this paper, three representative sections were selected for four-paragraph explanatory study, which are Shikong Light Ceremony of Taoism in Zhuang characteristics, Shibie Light Ceremony of Taoism in Zhuang characteristics, Shicheng Light Ceremony of Taoism in Zhuang characteristics, providing the first-hand reference for scholars to explain and study Scripts of Preaching and Teaching Taoism in Zhuang Characteristics. The first paragraph is a copy of the text written in ancient Zhuang characters; the second paragraph shows the pronunciation of the ancient Zhuang characters; the third paragraph is a word-for-word translation of the ancient Zhuang characters; the fourth paragraph gives a literal translation of the whole text. Besides, difficult Zhuang characters are marked in the translation process. At the end of each section, free translation is given. The transcript is of a literature recording the light ceremony of Taoism in Zhuang characteristcis in special, providing high value for research in this field. In this paper, an elucidation is given on the symbolisation of the light on the basis of sorting out the procedures of light ceremony, which can be highly summarized as "Heaven-Human(light)-Earth", from which we see that the symbolisation of the light is "Imitation of the Heaven and the Earth", that is, to resurrect the soul of the deceased by imitating the image of the sun, the moon, the stars, and enlarging its existence to different places, shining together with the sun and transforming every dark and shadowy corners into a vast brightness.Cultural essence of Zhuang ethnic group is contained in the ancient zhuang characters strewn in the transcript. By analyzing the structure of several representative ancient Zhuang characters, cultural connotation can be further studied, such as Guo is originated in maternal clan commune, while Wei dates back to paternal clan society; later on, Guo developed into country, symblizing the nation, while Wei developed into plate, representing the memorial tablet. Bei and Dun imply a myth about shooting the sun in Zhuang ethnic culture, from which we could infer that the identity of Bu Luotuo is the chief priest of the the clan society as well as the Chief of the tribe. BaLei is Mout. Hua in Guangxi Autonomous Region, the murals on which is a reflection of worship to reproduction by ancient Zhuang ethnic group. Dei is a combination of land and mud, reflecting people’s prayer and wish for harvest.Influenced by Confucianism, the ceremonies of Taoism recorded in the transcript are permeated by Confucianist culture and concepts, embodying in that Filial Piety can atone for one’s crime and pray for one’s blessings; Benevolence covers not only human but also other creatures in the world; Forbearance can free oneself from the torture of crime.
