Abstract


The thesis takes the instruments recorded in The Book of Odes as an object of study. By the combination of "Eight sound" instrument classification in ancient China and The Book of Ode, musical instruments are divided into eight categories: "metal", "stone", "silk", "bamboo", "gourd", " soil", " leather", and" wood". The thesis emphasize on the following questions.1st, The relationship between Musical instruments of The Book of Odes and Chinese traditional culture.2nd, The use of musical instruments in The Book of Odes.3rd, The history of musical instruments as well as features in shape and structure in The Book of Odes.4th, The use of musical instruments in the Zhou Dynasty and its place.5th, The relationship between some musical instruments.6th,Key issues in todays academic study about some ancient musical instruments.The article is divided into five parts. The introduction mainly explains the "Eight sound" instrument classification and its history. From the first chapter to the fourth, article separately studies "metal", "stone", "silk", "bamboo" and "gourd" and " soil", " leather", " wood", including their history, the shape, the structure and features. Each chapter introduces two kinds of Musical Instruments.
