Abstract


\Novel depicts the American Old New York high society world state customs, which reflects the era of the American Civil War caused the old and new values ??of social change and alternation . In this paper, text analysis (close reading) method described in the \how to keep both compromise to move forward. As the end of the novel says , \It is in this compromise , the New York community will continue forward progress.
