Abstract


Scientific Bel Canto is one singing technique which is loved and respected by many singers around the world. Many singers made great achievements to bring it in and use it as a source of reference when they sing the art songs and folk songs of their countries. The Bel Canto was introduced to our country in the early 20th century and it spread quickly and widely in our country. In 1950s, it was brought in Hulunbeir, Inner Mongolia. The process history of absorption in Hulunbeir can be divided into four stages - germination and development in 1950s and 1960s; tenacious survival in ten-year unrest period; growth and spread in 1980s and 1990s; and wider application in the period of turn of the century. The unique Prairie Songs which were sung by Bel Canto was formed through a long-period mergence between Bel Canto and ethical elements in Hulunbeir region. This kind of Prairie Songs has both the scientific and perfect voice of Bel Canto School and special music style of three ethnic minorities in Hulunbeir region. This kind of Prairie Songs is widely welcomed by people, widely spread and influenced. It is a product which the art of Bel Canto absorbs Chinese national elements; it also successfully embodies the development of the western Bel Canto in Chinese minority areas.
