Abstract


China’s animation in the the 60’s of 20th century created a unique animation technology to the world, that’s the Ink and Wash Animation. The Ink and Wash Animation works received recognition and praise in the International Animation Contest can fully reveal that the Ink and Wash Animation in animation industry in the world status is irreplaceable.However, since the 90’s in the 20th century, the Ink and Wash Animation has been at a standstill. It is necessary to analyze the reasons for the decline. This paper analyzes Ink and Wash Animation by external elements and internal element to study the characteristics of art and film, as well as its inherent characteristics of Chinese culture. Although these characteristics have nothing in art, but have their advantages and shortcomings. This paper analyzes the conflict between the Ink and Wash Animation and film, ink-wash paintings, pop culture, as well as the development of the times, and points out that the traditional reasons for the decline of Ink and Wash Animation.As a technology development, Ink and Wash Animation is a significant contribution to the world, but not limited to this. With the development of the times and technology, to explore the technology of animation is never-ending.
