Abstract


Chinese people are living a better life benefiting the opening reform, and so China is becoming the largest auto market. The automotive companies are adding new models into the market continuously because of the fierce competition. Meanwhile, the quality control in the new car model project is also becoming much more important. A better quality performance in the project is important to saleable product, and is also important to achieving the timing, which means an advantage to earn the market.We researched the application of quality control system in different periods of the project, which made the application much more targeted.We compared the application of quality control systems in Shanghai General Motors’New Regal & New LaCross body in white projects. And the result showed that comprehensive application of several quality control systems can make the project much more successful. In New Regal project, due to single quality control system and the first usage of new technology, such as roller hemming for wheel house and laser welding, there’re some problems with the quality control system. However, in New LaCross project, because of the multi-using of several quality control systems, we focused more on equipment and continuous improvement, and therefore the problems has been solved.We discussed the comprehensive application of quality control systems in different stages of one project. It is meaningful to study the quality control in projects. Also it is a reference for the improvement of BIW quality in Chinese automotive industry.
