Abstract


Boris Leonidovich Pasternak (1890-1960), Russian poet, writer and translator. On the 23rd of October 1958, Pasternak was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for the novel Doctor Zhivago, because of his "major achievements in modern lyrical poetry and the great Russian narrative tradition in the field of literature."This paper uses the knowledge of the Russian intellectual to analyze the character of Zhivago; uses the theory of tragedy psychology and carnivalization to analyze the characters of Lara and Tonya; use the Propp’s theory of Morphology to analyze the character of Komarovski; uses the theory of Freudian psychoanalysis to analyze the dreams and study the psychological characteristics of Antipov; combined with Russian national conditions, historical context and the writer’s creative intent to analyze the characters of Galiullin, Palykh and Markle. By studying the characters, this paper constructs the system of characters of the novel Doctor Zhivago and expands research findings with regards to these characters by researching typical images of the novel.
