The mode of operation in modern enterprises is shifting from hierarchical and functional to process-centered, process is becoming more and more complex and often changes, traditional MIS can not support business process reengineering and organizations reconstruction. As we can see, workflow technology is able to compensate for the shortcomings of MIS, it can transmit appropriate information to the appropriate person at the appropriate time and the right place in an appropriate manner. Therefore, this thesis integrates the two technologies, presents the generic framework for the development of MIS based on workflow technology.First, background and significance of topics is given, then this thesis discusses the domestic and foreign research results in this area, does a positive study on the theoretical foundation and related technology, uses lots of meaningful design ideas for reference and expands them.Second, this thesis analyses the shortcomings of traditional MIS when process in enterprises changes, the necessity and importance of the idea that using workflow technology in MIS development is affirmed.Third, the design and implementation of the system’s framework, structure, function, module and interface is described detailedly in the form of text, picture, table and code. The entire system is divided into two main parts, workflow modeling tools and workflow running platform, this thesis described the functions of their respective internal components and the mechanism of their mutual cooperation, used XPDL, a method converting workflow models, as the interface.Finally, a simple office automation example is given to show the specific developing steps using the system.This thesis not only lay a foundation for further research on the integration of workflow technology and MIS, but also provided a useful basis of the theory and technology for other related research, it has some practical significance.
