Abstract


In recent years, Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has become one of the major researchs from home and abroad. By interviewing 8 college students who are exposed to IAD, this study try to explore the Influencing factors, the processes and the key steps, the experiences, the rationalizing mechanism of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) and the policies aimed to deal with IAD. By analyzing the data, we have got the following findings:1. College students’IAD can be explained by motivations, characters and attraction of the Internet. The motivations can be divided into three kinds: the first is to continue the interests in internet because some interest cannot be satisfied without Internet; the second is obtaining the accomplishment, communication and experiences on the Internet which cannot be realized in real life; the third is escaping from the reality, such as whiling away the time and covering up the pain of the mentality. The last two motivations are the key factors for college students’IAD.2. The process of college students’internet usage includes five steps: newness, exploring, addiction, disenchantment and calmness. The process of IAD includes three steps: exploring, addiction and disenchantment.3. There are positive and negative experiences for college students with IAD. Positive experiences are achievement, communication, interest and gain; the negative experiences are negative impacts on study, personal life, health and communication.4. The rationalizing mechanism is habit, comparison, encouragement, reducing the harm, plan without execution.5. The interviewees advise to control the IAD by strengthening the ability of self-control, providing more guidance, enhancing campus management.
