Leaf beet (Beta vulgaris var.cicla L.) 1/ 2 medium containing different concentrations of seawater soilless cultivation , and to study the the leaf beet variety of morphological and physiological characteristics of the changes in the seawater culture conditions . The results showed that , when grown in culture medium of 22% sea water , leaf beet plant morphology and microstructure had no significant change in conductivity equivalent . When grown in culture medium conductivity equivalent to 41% of seawater , leaf beet maintained the survival and growth of microscopic observation also found no dead cells , but some changes in plant morphological and physiological characteristics : ( 1) plant morphology changes: leaf area greatly reduced leaf thickening , palisade tissue swelling , root hair shorter , reducing the number of roots per unit area of ??root hairs , decrease in the number of stomata on leaves epidermal unit area : (2) plant dry weight decreased cell osmotic pressure to raise increased water content ; (3) free proline content increased by 137% compared with the control ; (4) soluble sugar content was essentially unchanged ; ( 5) the membrane electrolyte leakage rate increases , increased intracellular ion content : ( 6 ) a polypeptide composition change : of 24.4KD and 27.0KD polypeptide significantly increased ; of 29.1KD and 29.5KD polypeptide expression level decreased . The results show that at least seawater culture fluid conductivity equivalent to 22% sea water , leaf beet to normal growth, some change occurs when the culture medium salinity is too high , the morphological and physiological characteristics of leaf beet , but can still survive and growth . At the same time , these changes also involved in a variety of physiological and biochemical processes , leaf beet salt tolerance by the body of a variety of structural and functional synergy .
