This paper relatively comprehensively evaluates China’s water environment influenced by population, society, and economy factors. Based on the evaluation, we hold the problems of water environment exist in all the areas of China, and there are great differences of water environment between the areas. From the aspect of area distribution, problem of water environment and factors of population, society and economy don’t coordinate with each other: in those areas which are rich in water, there are serious pollution and waste; in those which are lack of water, economy is relatively behind the times; in those where there is less lack of water, high population density faces the water resource with great potential pressure. Among the factors affecting the water environment, the role of population has been proved outstanding, and the factors of society and economy have also brought about important effects. So making population, economy, society and water environment develop coordinately is important.
