Abstract


Echo discourse is an interesting linguistic phenomenon , by repeating the words of others to achieve the special purpose of the speaker , being common in verbal communication plays an important role , but the current research abroad is a subclass of the echo discourse echo question , while there are no words echo in the English system , detailed research . This paper attempts to echo words in the English definition , classification, characteristics and language function introduction and make people more clearly understand the special language phenomenon , and the associated theoretical framework to explore the echo discourse generated and the understanding of the process . This paper is composed of five parts . The first chapter is the full text of an introduction, the subject of this study , the purpose and significance of the research , corpus sources as well as the full text of the framework structure . The second chapter is a review of the literature , a brief introduction and commentary on the research status at home and abroad about the echo discourse . Chapter echo discourse as an interesting linguistic phenomenon to study limited its definition in Quirk et al study based on the echo words were reclassified summarizes the echo discourse characteristics , and analyzed echo discourse pragmatic functions . Chapter IV under the framework of Relevance Theory , according to the interpretation of its pragmatic function , analyzes the echo discourse production and understanding the process . Chapter exposition of the full text and summarized , and pointed out that the lack of this study and future research directions .
