Abstract


Classical poetry is one of the most significant achievements of Chinese literature, but also a bright pearl in the treasure house of world literature. For many years, the Chinese and foreign scholars, poets and translators not only in the practical aspects of the translation of classical Chinese poetry has made a huge contribution, but also their insights on classical Chinese poetry translation theory. The imagery has been regarded as the soul of classical Chinese poetry, the beauty of classical Chinese poetry carrier. Many categories of imagery, different combinations, as well as its artistic features: subjectivity, continuity and ambiguity makes the English translation of classical poetry difficult.
