Abstract


ObjectivePersistent angiogenesis is needed in the course of tumors’s occurrence and development. Many growth factors contribute to this course. Vascular endotheli-al growth factor ( VEGF) , as the main factor to promote the angiogenesis of tumors, has been proved to be related to growth and development of ovarian carcinoma closely. Endocrine gland - derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG - VEGF) is the only tissue - specific angiogenesis factor that has homology with the VEGF. The expression of it is located in the glandular organ that produce the steroid, such as testis, adrenal gland, ovaries, and placenta. It have been reported that there is significant difference between the benign tumor and epithelial carcinoma in ovaries on the expression of EG - VEGF, which maybe be another mark to assure the character of ovarian tumors. But it is still unclear about the relationship between EG - VEGF and other categories of ovarian tumors. We used the immunohistochemistry technique to detect the expression of EG - VEGF protein and provided a theory base for the gene diagnosis and treatment of ovarian tumors.Methods170 samples of ovarian tumors that were taken in operations of the second clinical college of china medical university during January of 2003 to December of 2005 were acted as the experimental group, including 60ovarian epithelial tumors (15benign tumors, 10 ovarian borderline tumors, 35 ovarian carcinoma) , 36 ovarian gonadal sex cord stromal tumors (18 benign tumors, 18 carci-
