Abstract


Ironical poetry in Late Tang Dynasty present a diversity of contents. Those poems are involved with darkness of social reality in every aspect, which severely criticize corrupt rulers as well as give a satirical depiction of unfair and unjust society.During the period poets scatter as many as stars do. Different historical backgrounds and personal styles cause ironical poetry a variety of aesthetic tastes: some in favor of euphemism, some on behalf of stir, both interactive and harmonious.Li Shang-yin and Luo Yin are the two representatives of ironical poetry in that age. Their ironical poems vary a lot from artistic style to artistic techniques. But both of them heighten the functions of subjective satire, strengthen the tense of criticism, break through the bandage of traditional poetic justice of Confucianism, and promote the further development of ancient Chinese ironical art.There are similarities between ironical poetry and satire in Late Tang Dynasty. Meanwhile, apparent distinctions still exist between them, due to their stylistic features and historical development.
