TTF-1 Expression and Its Diagnostic Application in Lung Carcinomas

Abstract


Objective: To the observed thyroid transcription factor -1 (ITF-1) differential expression in the nucleus of the different types of lung cancer to explore its application in the differential diagnosis and prognosis of lung tumors . Materials and Methods: Atlanta two homes from 2002 to 2006 , surgical resection or bronchoscope biopsy specimens of 127 patients divided into three groups , 12 cases , 79 cases of extrapulmonary adenocarcinoma of the lung cancer group , 36 cases of non - cancer control group . Group of lung cancer , non-small cell cancer ( NSCLC ) 60 cases, including 34 cases of squamous cell carcinoma , 22 cases of adenocarcinoma , large cell carcinoma, 4 cases ; small cell carcinoma (SCLC) 19 . TTF-1 expression in tumor cells were observed by immunohistochemical staining . Results criteria : negative (- ) : positive tumor cells accounts for 0 to 5% ; ( weakly positive ) : positive tumor cells accounts for 5 % to 10% ; positive (): 10% to 50% of positive tumor cells ; strongly positive ( ) : positive tumor cells > 50% . Results: The lung cancer group, TTF-1 positive expression rate was 48 % , the positive rate of 2.7% of non - cancer control group , the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05 ) ; small cell lung cancer in the lung cancer group of TTF-1 expression was 79% of non-small cell carcinoma was 38% , the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05 ) between the two ; primary pulmonary adenocarcinoma was 72% , in addition to 12 cases of extrapulmonary adenocarcinoma thyroid follicular carcinoma TIT-1 expression positive , the rest are negative . Low degree of differentiation , TNM stage Ⅲ ~ Ⅳ stage , lymph node metastasis of lung cancer TTF-1 expression is higher in the high degree of differentiation , TNM stage Ⅰ ~ Ⅱ stage and lymph node metastasis . Conclusion: According to the TTF-1 expression differences in different types of tumors , it is possible for lung cancer and non- lung cancer , small cell carcinoma and non- small cell carcinoma , adenocarcinoma and metastatic adenocarcinoma of the lung primary differential diagnosis , TTF- 1 is also expected to become one of the indicators to determine the prognosis of lung cancer .
