Abstract

Esophageal cancer is malignant epithelial tissue in the esophagus, accounting for 2% of all malignancies. Around the world each year about 10 million people died of esophageal cancer. China is a high incidence of esophageal and gastric cancer, esophageal cancer deaths after ranking second. The incidence of esophageal cancer related to the nitrosamines chronic irritation, inflammation and trauma, genetic factors, and drinking water, food and vegetables, trace elements, but the exact cause is unclear. Unstable microtubule protein Stathmin, also known as op18, p19, p18, 19k, Metablastin, oncoprotein18, is a highly conserved intracellular soluble phosphate protein, name from Greek stathmos. Stathmin expression products with a variety of cytokines, oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, direct or indirect role, play a key role in the cell division cycle tubulin microtubules and spindles, control of the cell cycle, and sub The change in cell proliferation, differentiation, and plays an important role in the cell transduction pathway, and therefore are also academics known signal transduction relay station (relay). Stathmin as cell signal transduction molecules in cell differentiation, tissue regeneration, repair and development of malignancy, especially important role and significance in the development and decision phenotype. Stathmin highly expressed in a variety of malignant tumors. Studies have shown that the high proliferation rate of Stathmin expressed at high levels for the maintenance of the tumor cells is required of Stathmin gene and its expression product is an attractive malignancy of new drugs and biological treatment target, is to estimate the prognosis of patients with The new indicators. The most common pathological type of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. In this study, using immunohistochemical assay Stathmin protein expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and adjacent noncancerous esophageal mucosa and esophageal carcinoma cell line EC9706 cells, significance to explore Stathmin protein expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Xinxiang Medical Materials and methods) to collect the period from April 2006 to September resection specimens of 31 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, taken immediately placed in the fresh specimens fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde solution, embedded in paraffin, in addition to doing regular pathological examination for later immunohistochemistry. 2) Using immunohistochemistry assay esophageal squamous cell cancer and adjacent esophageal mucosa Stathmin expression. 3) selection of the esophageal carcinoma cell line EC9706 conventional culture, application of immunohistochemical assay which Stathmin expression. 4) experimental data SPSS10.0 statistical software processing, the use of analysis of variance, α = 0.05 significant standard for variance. Results 1) 31 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, Stathmin expression of positive samples of 23 cases, the positive rate was 80.6%. 2) 31 cases of corresponding adjacent noncancerous mucosa, Stathmin expression of positive samples for 10 cases, the positive rate was 32.3%. 3) 31 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma specimens by age, gender, histological type, degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis, depth of tumor invasion and TNM stage grouping, Stathmin expression difference was statistically significant factor in the degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis, The depth of tumor invasion and TNM stage. 4) can be seen in the the EC9706 cell cytoplasm in Stathmin protein expression. Conclusion 1) esophageal carcinoma, Stathmin protein highly expressed. 2) esophageal tissue, degree of differentiation of Stathmin protein expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, lymph node metastasis, depth of tumor invasion and TNM stage were significantly associated.
