Abstract


The family, which covering many areas of Chinese society such as historicaltraditions, psychology and so on, is an important motif in novels. The1990s isanother peak in the family novels creation. In addition to mature way of narrative,cultural content of family and homeland consciousness is constantly being excavated,triggering the reader’s multiple thinking. Influenced by regional factors, the familynarrative always shows different regional characteristics. The traditional culture of thefamily and region influence each other and grow together, recording the history andguiding the direction of the times.Family novel has a long tradition in china. The narrative emotions and art formsof family novel have been developing and evolving with time. Faced with theglobalization and cross-century, the writers in1990s would focus more on the familyby looking at the traditional culture, giving new meaning to the family novel. Amongthe lots of descriptions about family culture, regional characteristics were penetratedin them and shown outside, which affects the emotional tone and expression of thefamily novel. First of all, the accumulated customs and regional characters in the longhistory give birth to different family emotion, which also determine the author’snarrative points and feelings. Secondly, the main content and literary expression of thenarrative were supported by figures’ relationships and emotional entanglements,demonstrating the thinking concept and living philosophy of people from differentregions. Finally, the writing style of the writers is colorful due to the different regionalenvironment.Writing novels from the perspective of family, not only enrich the literarydimension, but also broaden the space of culture description. Family and region havecondensed the weight of history and the nation, with the contradiction dialecticalcharacteristics of traditional and modern, closed and open. Tracing the ancient cultureof the family and exploring the simple regional feature, on the one hand, let us learnfrom the root of the nation the confidence and energy, on the other hand, let theindividual find convert and comfort. However, we should also maintain a sober andrational, recognizing the limits and shortcomings of the family culture and the regional writing and finding the way out of the plight and push the family novelcreation to a new height.
