Abstract

In the process of face-to-face communication, both verbal communication and non-verbal communication channels. Whether consciously or unconsciously, people socially almost can not do without these two ways. Non-verbal behavior everywhere, we usually use non-verbal behavior eye contact, gestures, silence. The study of non-verbal communication has also attracted many scholars as well as English teachers. Oral English Teaching teachers nonverbal behavior is very important. Generally speaking ability is considered to be the main part of the communicative competence. Spoken language teaching in foreign language teaching, especially college students in English teaching and research, but also more and more cause for concern. However, today's college students, English speaking ability, but it falls short. It is widely believed that the students' oral ability and weaker than in other areas, such as reading and writing skills. The role of non-verbal communication is often overlooked in the process of oral teaching. The conversation class is a teacher-student face-to-face interaction occurs frequently place, which requires the spoken language teachers to master the classroom communicative skills in order to improve the efficiency of classroom communication. Conversation class compared to other types of special classroom, teachers nonverbal behavior in conversation class has more impact on the successful launch of the teaching. The authors from eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture, body touch, time, space, silence, appearance and other aspects of the University of spoken English classroom teaching how to use the non-verbal communication to improve the effectiveness of teaching and students learning interest in English. The authors believe that the study of non-verbal communication is not only conducive to the development of the theory of the speech, but also conducive to improving the quality of classroom teaching and cultural awareness training. The first part is the overview of the whole article, the reason for the study, the research questions, as well as the article an overview of the overall structure. The second part of the literature review describes the basic concepts of non-verbal communication, classification, characteristics and functions. The third part explains the role of non-verbal communication in college oral English teaching. The fourth part is the study design, data analysis and research found introduced, based on the research results and methods of today's non-verbal communication, observation of students' oral classroom, and would like to confirm the non-verbal behavior of teachers can affect students and teachers spoken classroom exchange. Concluded that the study found inadequacies. I proposed on the basis of the above analysis of the significance of the study. On the one hand, there is conducive to improve the University oral English education levels, play to the advantages of non-verbal communication, to avoid or reduce the inadequacies of verbal communication alone. On the other hand, with the development of society, people should learn the characteristics of non-verbal communication to be more conducive to their own development.
