This paper is a report on a translation project based on the first chapter ofGlobal Trend2030: Alternative Worlds that was co-authored by National IntelligenceCouncil. The chapter analyses the challenges and opportunities facing countries,economies, investors and leaders in such aspects as politics, military, economy,demographic pattern and environment from the perspective of analysts.This translation report includes four parts. Firstly, it conducts an analysis of thebackground, aim as well as the structure of the project. Secondly, the author’sinformation, together with the main idea and the features of its language of the article,is researched, Thirdly, difficult points and the corresponding methods under theguidance of communicative translation theory are discussed, including conversion,amplification and prioritizing the main theme, in order to produce fluently naturaltranslation that adapts to Chinese readers.Lastly, a reflection concerning the lessonslearned and the problems-to-be-solved is given.
