Abstract


As one important part of our country’s banking system, city commercial banks play an important role in supporting local economic development. The essay makes an analysis on core competitiveness and its change of Qingdao Bank, and makes contrast with three listed city commercial banks(Nanjing Bank, Ningbo Bank, Beijing Bank) based on "Share-holding Commercial Banks Rating System" of Merchant Bank and factor analysis. Through the empirical study and case analysis, the suggestions to improve Qingdao Bank’s core competitiveness are proposed.Studies suggest that rankings resulted from the two evaluation methods to analyse core competitiveness of the four city commercial banks are not consistent. But the score assessing the single factor which influence the city commercial banks’ core competitiveness is basically the same from the the two evaluation methods. It can analyse all the factors that influence core competitiveness more meticulous and comprehensive to adopt share-holding commercial banks’evaluation system to assess city commercial banks’ core competitiveness. To enhance their core competitiveness, they should make accurate market positioning for the city commercial banks, strengthen human capital construction, increase financial innovation, and advance the corporate governance reforms.
