Abstract


The narrative song Mu-lan Enlisting is made up of the song lyric which Mr. Liu lin wrote and the composition which Mr. Wang Zhixin composed by dramatic, Chinese folk art forms and the tone of folk song in the central plains of China. It is the most famous master in the contemporary era, and it was received much concern in the field of music.Mr. Liu lin,the writer of song lyric, follows the important verses in The Poem of Mu-lan, at the same time he changes and deletes some verses. These changed verses provide artistic image with emotion, art of music structure and new positive subject matter, all these play a remarkable role in creating the character Mu-lan.The music structure of Mu-lan Enlisting is strophic with three parts. This structure is regular and at the same time it adapts some factors of Chinese Opera. Many famous singers have sung Mu-lan Enlisting, Peng Liyuan and Song Zuying’s performance is characteristic. Peng Liyuan make full use of the perform of the actions, whereas Song Zuying absorbs and adapts the western style of singing to create the character Mu-lan by refined voice. The special pleasing quality in the song Mu-lan Enlisting is Zi-zheng-qiang-yuan(字正腔园)and Sheng-qing-bing-mao(声情并茂).The union of tradition and modern in the changing of song lyric and the syncretizing of tradition and modern in the song rhythm make Mu-lan Enlisting to have sense of the times and unique artistic charm.
