Abstract


Following the coming period of economic globalization, trade structure has undergone profound changes. As one of the major features of economic structure, trade structure reflects dynamic process of a country’s factor endowment and industrial structure. Based on absorbingthe previous research fruits, this paper focuses on the changing tendency of shanghai foreign trade structure with economic development.First of all, based on the practice of Shanghai foreign trade structure, this paper analysis the relationship among trade structure and economic growth、industry structure. We further discuss the present development conditions and problems of Shanghai trade structure from structure of foreign trade goods, structure of foreign trade ways, structure of foreign trade model, structure of foreign trade market.For another, we research in-depth on the influence factors of trade structure, especially on GDP per capital, population size, FDI, material capital and human capital, R&D, industrial structure, and the exchange rate.Thirdly, this paper discusses the relationship between trade structure and main influencing factors by an empirical study, especially the relationship between trade structure and economic growth. The paper use GDP per capita,which is the most important influencing factor of trade structure , to measures economic growth, and seen other influencing factors as controlled variable. by classifying trade goods , the empirical part constructs three indicators for foreign trade structure: trade volume、the commodity composition of foreign trade、structure of factor intensive type, and use one econometric equation to regress.The results of the paper show that both shanghai foreign trade volume and trade structure have improved with economy growth. The basic changing trend of trade structure is: the status of trade volume and export are rising, but the status of import is dropping relatively; the advanced trade structure and economic growth are correlated in a positive relationship; the advanced trade structure becomes less independent of traditional factors, but more independent of high-level element. Due to some reasons, it is not reasonable for shanghai foreign trade structure, especially for the internal structure of manufactured goods、capital and technology-intensive products. The paper finally puts forward suggestions on how to optimize trade structure and boost growth.
