Abstract


The interaction of opening up and economic growth has been one of the hot topics, early research has sorted regional opening up into international and inter-regional opening up, which is creatively called regional dual opening up recently. Previous research primarily explores the relation between international opening up and economic growth but few focused on regional opening up or regional dual opening up. Thus this paper explores the interaction of regional dual opening up and economic growth based on China’s ten coastal regions from the following four aspects systematically:Literature Review, Mechanism Analysis, Reality Comparison and Empirical Test. Therefore the studies are of theoretical significance as well as practical value.This essay applies the method of normative and empirical analysis together.In normative analysis, the origin and development of the research of regional dual opening up, economic growth and the links between them are stated in the Literature Review. The relational mechanism of regional dual opening up and economic growth is describeded based on the earlier studies and practical cases, and this reflects there may be positive or negative correlation between regional dual opening up and economic growth.In empirical analysis, this paper make a comparison among China’s ten coastal regions from the aspects of international, inter-regional opening up and the relationship between regional dual opening up and economic growth. Evidences from the reality comparison and empirical test show that, both international and inter-regional opening up have a positive influence on economic growth; Bohai Delta has a preference of internationalization; Pearl River Delta favors inter-regionalization, while Yangtze River Delta has a balance development of both.
