Abstract


19th century Europe is a democracy and tyranny intertwined with, liberty and tyranny, reform and revolution magnificent era. Tocqueville thought that the dramatic social transformation in Europe makes the identity of the concept of equality is growing in popularity, the traditional sense of the the privileged feudal aristocracy gradually exit the stage of history, democracy has become a significant trend of social development. By combining this era in which Tocqueville to investigate his background in the theory of political participation, democratic ideology, in order to reveal the theoretical significance of today's social reality. In a democratic trend, increasing awareness of individual independence, but due to the blind pursuit of equality, leading to almost everyone have become powerless atomistic individuals. The spread of individualism and materialism makes public virtue gradual depletion of individuals increasingly away from the public and political life, so naturally open emergence of authoritarian way. The important role of political participation is through encouraging civic awareness, tempered spirit in politics, which in the ordinary course of public political life effectively suppress potentially authoritarian tendencies. So how can we effectively protect citizens' political participation? I think we should from the educational, religious, legal and other aspects of civil society to foster participatory citizenship. , Political education is the basis of cultivating public spirit, civil religion can shape the sentiments of political participation, the rule of law system to protect the orderly political participation, and civil society to some extent can be said that the integration of the three above, by restricting public power to provide protection to the citizens' political participation. Political participation is guided by the principles of the \Bottom-up political participation through the township life and the local self-government as a starting point for political association and founded the newspaper as the main way to nurture civil society, public spirit, so as to effectively prevent the emergence of a new dictatorship. Tocqueville thought foothold political participation is how to effectively carry out political participation, in order to avoid the democratic era of authoritarian tendencies, and ultimately achieve political freedom. Can be summarized in one sentence Tocqueville thought the basic connotation of political participation: autonomy through the township to protect political freedoms. Tocqueville article concludes with a discussion of the important thinking of the value of political participation and practical enlightenment, focuses on the political sentiments, religious and political freedom of thought in contemporary Chinese democracy practical significance. When we look Chinese, obviously we are entering the era of democratization Tocqueville said, must also deal with socialist modernization brought about by the fact that the democratization of materialism, individualism, and the failure of public morality and other issues. A series of social problems, have prompted us had to go look at Tocqueville, his insights to think about social issues in contemporary Chinese reality. Of course, we can not copy their political ideology, but their thinking in-depth study of political participation, at least let us in the future design of the system more reference, take some detours.
