Abstract

Objective: Viral encephalitis (VE) is encephalon substantially inflammation causes by virus infection, ordinarily behaves as fever, headache, Mental disorder, twitching, conscious disturbance, meningeal irritation sign. Etc, could result in central nervous system focal or diffusibity injured. VE is a common disease in clinical of neurology department, and the most common disease in infection of central nervous system. In recent years, foreign disquisition indicate[1],calcium-binding protein S - 100B protein is being laid stressed on, because of act as sensltive pathology marker protein and the standard of central nervous system (CNS) injured. When intracranial infeion happened, inflammatory cell and blood platelet .etc could all give birth to vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) which would destroy blood-cerebral barrier, aggravate cerebral edema. This disquisition through determine the content of the S - 100B protein and VEGF in spinal fluid of VE patient, to research the significance that the S - 100B protein and VEGF to the VE patient. Methods: 2009 June ~ 2010 June, the patients hospitalized in Hebei Medical University no.2 hospital, cerebropathia group: 42 cases clinically diagnosed suffered by VE. Comparison group total 40 cases, among them, spinal muscular atrophy 1 case, neuroses 2 cases, organophosphorus poisoning 1 case, spinal arachnoiditis 2 cases, rignt side nephrapostasis 1 case, demyelinating disease 4 cases, peripheral nerve disease;peripheral neuropathy 2 cases, multiple system atrophy 1 case, cavernous sinus syndrome 1 case and 26 cases of excluded the central nervous system infection diagnose though clinical lumbar puncture. All the cases were under lumbar puncture after they hospitalized, the specimens were submitted to do cerebrospinal fluid routine, biochemical, cytology series examination (MGG pigmentation, alcian blue pigmentation) to determine the assay of S-B100 protein and VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid under the ABC-ELISA theorem. Results: 1 cerebrospinal fluid biochemical: cerebropathia group protein average value is 0.53±0.37g/L, while comparison group protein average value is 0.39±0.26g/L, the difference between the two groups are none significance in statistics. Cerebropathia group carbohydrate average value is 3.45±0.83mmol/L, while comparison group carbohydrate average value is 3.75±0.99mmol/L, the difference between the two groups are none significance in statistics, either. Cerebropathia group chloride average value is 119.60±7.14mmol/L,while comparison group chloride average value is 123.8±6.32mmol/L,the difference between the two groups are significance in statistics.2 The content determination of S-100B protein in cerebrospinal fluid: Cerebropathia group the level of S-100B protein in cerebrospinal fluid is (25.043~47.971)pg/ml, average content value is 28.37±6.09pg/ml, while in comparison group level of S-100B protein in cerebrospinal fluid is (25.043~29.638)pg/ml, average content value is 26.03±0.90pg/ml, the difference between the two groups are significance in statistics.3 The content determination of VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid: Cerebropathia group the level of VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid is (15.625~143.769)pg/ml, average content value is 96.24±13.38pg/ml, while the comparison group level of VEGF is (89.146~96.183) pg/ml, average content value is 90.67±1.71pg/ml, the difference between the two groups are significance in statistics.4 Refer to two cases, before treatment the level of S-100B protein in cerebrospinal fluid is (27.008~33.599)pg/ml, while after treatment the level of S-100B protein in cerebrospinal fluid is (25.861~26.844) pg/ ml; before treatment the level of VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid is (92.508~96.796)pg/ml, while after treatment the level of VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid is (90.062~90.979) pg/ ml. The comparisons in the tow level are both significance in statistics.Conclusions:1 For the viral encephalitis patients, the content of S-100B protein and VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid are both higher than comparison group, they are significance in statistics.2 The high level of S-100B protein and VEGF in cerebrospinal fluid for viral encephalitis patients could support the viral encephalitis diagnose. To track the content of them dynamically has noticeable effort on checkout the condition of viral encephalitis patients.
