Abstract


Through contemporary feminist and gender studies perspective , the objective of this thesis is that the analysis of \Virginia Woolf (in 23) , Laura Brown (1949 ) , Clarissa Vaughan (1999 ) , three of the face is very similar to depression and melancholy . Michael Cunningham novel not only showing heterosexual hegemony , but also provides a solution for the plight of the three leading ladies , and convey his being the author would like to express intention . Analysis of the three leading ladies are and how oppression , as well as how they subvert the patriarchal and heterosexual hegemony , and to find a way out , my thesis is divided into three chapters elaborate : heterosexuals endure Phase , gay performance period, and two types of sexual orientation the ultimate way out . The first chapter discusses three heroine heterosexual hegemony encountered in life . Virginia Woolf endure pressure in women who take the burden of the Victorian era , Laura Brown , also under the shackles of the family , Clarissa Vaughn , the ex-boyfriend called Mrs. Dalloway modern women , recalled when she and her boyfriend together bit by bit . The second chapter analyzes the three leading ladies how to struggle by way of homosexual and heterosexual hegemony . Virginia Woolf and her sister , Laura Brown and her female neighbor , Clarissa Vaughan and her lover of the same sex , each of the children are different degrees to demonstrate their homosexual relationship . Chapter III pointed out a different way to seek the three leading ladies living in two sexual orientation . Virginia Woolf chose suicide , Laura Brown chose the exodus , and Clarissa Vaughn lost ex-boyfriend . However , they are the ultimate freedom of the soul . Concludes with a brief summary of the main points mentioned in the previous chapters . Michael Cunningham's \freedom - can really choose according to their own will in life is the most important.
