Abstract

As the modern totem, sports elites do not only bear their own words of life but also be burdened with the specific social, cultural and even historical ethos, as the primary role in the effervescence they achieve not only the body’s "good" but also social capital as well as provide materials for those who writes the history, the diversity of content of the media representation shapes cognition and behavior of the "outsider" as well as participants themselves, and it provided the chance for researchers to understand social background, the collective will, and individual at specific time and space.In this paper, the author chose the important event and special time in Liu Xiang sports career as the research period, which was from retiring in the Beijing Olympic Games to winning the Asian Games in Guangzhou. Through in-depth interpretation of media texts in this period, try to understand the reproduction of elite sports by media and the relationship between different words, and draw the following conclusions:as a modern society, trust objects to physical capital as access to social authority and identity of the elite athletes, as with other social elite, has become the collective memory and the configuration of the collective consciousness of the important "tool" one. Reproduced by the movement of the mass media elite, is its intuitive nature and next to reflect the modern society of modern sports and even beyond the meaning advocated by, and consciously or unconsciously, to become dispersed in the discourse of life in the public social space to send Look beyond self-awareness prototype1.As the trust objects in modern society, athletes elite who access to social authority and identity by physical capital, has become one of the most important tool for the collective memory and the collective consciousness like other social elite. Athletes elite reproduced by the mass media reflect the meaning of exceeding advocated by modern sports even the modern society intuitively, and become to the beyond self-awareness prototype consciously or unconsciously, in the public so space. 2.Although as long as the nation still exist, as members of the nation-state, the sports elites will carry the political implications, from the media coverage of the series event about Liu Xiang’s quitting, we can see the increasing concern for individual value, and the decease of "gold medal only" idea, we are pleased to see some changes in discourse, which can be seen the turn from the collective life to the individual life.
