Abstract


China is the only country in the world which continues 5 thousand years and its civilization has not been interrupted. The long history endows the nation with broad and rich cultural heritage. How to protect and develop its cultural heritage for revitalizing it to display historical characters and not being lost or damaged, above all we need to seriously consider, especially the ways and means of protection.At present our cultural heritage management is basically in the condition of decentralized mold. With increasing emphasis on the protection of cultural heritage in our country, we should actively explore an effective way to protect the cultural heritage. It is proposed that we may guide the protection of cultural heritage projects with the project management theory and conduct detailed study in this paper.Firstly, analyzing the present status and the problems of the protection of cultural heritage, and proposing that we can and need to protect cultural heritage effectively with the scientific means.Secondly, analyzing the project and the project management theory, confirming the protection of cultural heritage whether or not it accords with the feature of project management, and it being feasible to guide the protection of cultural heritage with project management theory.Thirdly, on the basis of summarizing the experience and lessons of protection of cultural heritage in the foreign and domestic projects, it is put forward the principles and methods suitable to protection of cultural heritage in the practice witch including the ones of authenticity , system, sustainable development and matrix organization structure. They are all the key factors leading the protection of cultural heritage to success.Finally, taking the“Three Lanes and Seven Alleys”as an example, it is detailed introduced the application of the project management theory in the protection of cultural heritage, and pointed out again that it is feasible and effective to guide project of protection of cultural heritage with the theory of project management.This article holds that the protection of cultural heritage is one type of projects, so its protection can be guided by project management theory, so that historical characters and environment of cultural heritage can be preserved, the history and culture can continues, and it can possibly brings out certain economic efficiency to achieve sustainable development of projects.
