Abstract


From the standpoint of Ethnomusicology (studying "the music in culture , the culture in music "), by use the methods of field study and literature , the paper did a research on percussion in marriage and funeral ceremonies in Tujia , analyzed the percussion as a whole in the music styles. By researching the types , combining forms and musical qualities of main accompany percussion instruments in marriage and funeral ceremonies, the paper made a comparison in depth of the percussion in marriage and funeral ceremonies, it also use the method of culturology, expatiate the Tujia’s drum cultural connotation from the point of musicology.From the research, we have a general idea of percussion in Tujia ceremony music. And finally we make a observation of Tujia culture’s pith and main character from one aspect. Based on which we look into the significant of Tujia’s music in Tujia’s spirit. So that we can protect Tujia’s music cultural heritage.
