Abstract


J.M.Coetzee is considered to be one of the most excellent writers nowadays.He has won the highest prize of contemporary English fiction—the Booker Prize by Life and Times of Michael K, 1983 and Disgrace.And he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature in 2003..Thus,he has become the hot spot on the demestic scholars’ study.This article are based on the theory of postcolonial culture and the recent year’s research that many scholars made on J.M.Coetzee and his writings to carry on the explanation of cultural identity in his works, and with argument to realize the necessity of ideal cultural identity in the conflict, communication and integration of the two cultures and try to explore the approaches to deal with the conflicts rightly between the states,the race and the nations.Cultural identity as one of the researching point of postcolonial cultural theory has always been the main approach for the theorist to analyse the colonial words. Therefore in the first part of this paper,after the arrangement of the current situation on J.M.Coetzee and his writings and then according to Zhang Yuhe and Tao Jiajun’s research made a summary on the cultural identity theory under the colonial context.The second part mainly analysed the cultural identity crisis of the character’s miscellaneity in Coetzee’s works on the basis of the three novels Boyhood,Youth,SlowMan"The third part promulgated the remoulding of cultural identity by the analysis of other resistance and feminine identity of colony society in Coetzee’s novels.The last part has mainly adopted the narrative strategy which is parody,satirize and deconstruction on the analysis of cultural identity remoulding in Coetzee’s novels.
