Abstract


Currently China has become the biggest invest target country for Korea while Korea itself has developed to be the third largest investment origins of China. Facing across the sea, Korea stands no more than 100 kilometers far away from Shandong province, which undoubtedly takes Shandong province to be the most popular investment target for Korea. The two areas are strongly complimentary to each other in the cooperation of economy and trade field. In 2002, Korea, overtaking HK, US and Japan, climbed up to the first place in Shandong FDI list with total 1.557billion dollars and firmly held No.1 place for the following five years. Up to July 2008, Korean accumulative total authorized investment projects are over 18 thousand with total amount to 23.55bilioon US dollars which accounts for 31.3 percent of FDI in Shandong province and 55 percentages in whole Korea investment in China. Thus, study into Korea direct investment means both theoretically and practically for Shandong province.Based on other researches in this field, this article firstly introduces and analyses the history of attracting Korea’s FDI in Shangdong Province,and then makes a qualitative analysis on the mechanism of Shandong economic growth causing by Korea’s FDI, and then puts forward econometric model with a demonstration in the next part, aiming to find out the exact influence by Korean direct investment to Shandong economic growth. This paper constructs a multiple regression model on the basis of detailed data from the year 1990 to 2006. It finally proves that KDI makes promotions on the economic growth of Shandong province. In the end, the author figures out the contribution rate of Korea’s FDI and brings forward some policy measures accordingly in order to better direct trade between Korea and China and accelerate Shandong economic growth.
