Abstract

With the process of global economic integration , cross-cultural activities are becoming more frequent . Business presentations as an important means of communication , deserves considerable attention . As a theoretical starting point of this thesis, Intercultural Communication and discourse analysis combined actual business presentation discourse corpus through qualitative and quantitative analysis of the cultural characteristics of the Chinese and Western business presentation compared to the corresponding speech strategy aimed to provide effective guidance to the business people need to speak in a cross-cultural context . Based on 30 Chinese script corresponding English text ( 10 ) , careful comparison of the 30 North American business people lectures , the author analyzes the cultural roots of the two discourse characteristics , and made ??the following assumptions : 1 ) courtesy cultural differences influence the wording of a speech , modal expression , resulting in the effect of the different people in the West agree (interpersonal identification) . 2 ) in the West the circuitous and linear thinking preferences affect speech statement Organization order : a background information slowly cut to the chase , a central point straight to the point raised again demonstrated in detail . 3 ) macro- social culture under the influence of English speech strategy there are significant differences . Traditional Chinese -style speech induction and deduction , logical reasoning , analogy instructions discourse strategy adjustments . 3-5 of this thesis were these three assumptions studies verify the results show that the cultural differences really bring the different characteristics of the Chinese and foreign Speech Text . This study is based on Discourse in business presentations for the study of the entry point , but also need to be truly successful speech many aspects of the combination the inappropriate presentation skills , as well as the use of body language . This article aims to analyze the cultural side of the business presentations discourse , to pave the way for future cross-cultural business speech research .
