Abstract


With the development of global economy and international trade, resource and factors of production are flowing internationally more frequently, which means higher requirements of transportation scale and efficiency. As crucial junctures in the logistics process in the all-around transportation net, all ports are taking use of their advantages to develop port logistics, enlarge functions and promote competitive power to supply all-around high quality services to customers in the tide of shipping being larger and using of containers. In the meanwhile, port logistics has great influence in the connection of ports and helps to develop regional economy. Therefore, it becomes gradually a focus to discuss about port logistics’influence on economic growth in the academic circles.It first illustrates the tide of port logistics’being more international, enlarged scale and intelligentized. The thesis describes some typical port logistics modes, such as Rotterdam Port, Singapore Port and Hong Kong Port, and then it analyzes the future and deficiency of the development of our port logistics basing on the practice of China. In the part of theory analysis, the author analyzes three effects by which port logistics contributes to economic growth basing on economic theories and logistics theories, there are buttressing effect & multiplier effect, convergency effect & diffusion effect and exports competition effect. In the part of empirical analysis, the author chose 5 ports which have cargo throughput of more than 2 hundreds of millions and made a counteraction test and variance decomposition about the relationship between port logistics and economic growth of the 5 provinces in which the ports located by using statistics of GDP from 1985 to 2007, the annual cargo throughout and added value of logistics. The test proves that there is long-term stable relationship between them. At last, the author gives some countermeasures to promote the development of our port logistics basing on theories and empirical conclusion mentioned above.
