Abstract


With the rapid development of the financial sector and growing demand for the IT services, the outsourcing business has formed a certain scale in banking industry. So far domestic bank industry mainly focuses on the IT outsourcing. The fundamental purpose is to save costs and improve competitiveness so that banks will be able to focus on its core business activities and adapt to market changes. As a result, how to ensure the quality of the software outsourcing has become to be an important topic in banking IT Dep.This article shows particular concerns on workload, delivery rate, defect density, test coverage in the outsourcing business of the bank IT dep. It has conducted deep research and classified processes on how to measure the size of the software outsourcing and workload in the project kick off stage, how to monitor progress and schedule during project development stage, how to assess the test integrity during the project testing stage, and how to grade the final deliverables during project closure stage.This article introduces the importance of the IFPUG function point analysis method of the outsourcing project management of the bank at the beginning. It brings forward analysis methods and way of build the module with which we will be able to estimate workload, delivery rate, defect density, test coverage. Referencing to PMBOK, CMM, CMMI and IS09001, it establishes standard operating procedure and methods of function point analysis to ensure a better management on the outsourcing project.This article induces the mainstream IFPUG function point analysis method into software outsourcing project of the bank and brings forward the real life application into the different project stage including project initiation, developing, testing and closure. We could establish the module and estimate the quantity of the function point both efficiently and effectively. Meanwhile, we will be able to perfect the design by adding different parameters such as capacity baseline into the module and calculating the overall workload. Project manager and other shareholder will be able to plan/monitor project schedule as well as workload via this tool. More importantly, key factors like workload, delivery rate, deficiency density and test coverage will be easily reflected on data. By combining project management process, we will be able to quantify the data and ensure the quality of the outsourcing business via less people, short test cycle and low costLast but not least, the article sites an outsourcing project, namely‘Private Telephone Personal Physical Gold Trading System’, from Bank of Shanghai as an example to show the application of function point analysis method. Within the project life cycle, it provides estimation of the software size, development progress and test efficiency as well as validates the effectiveness.
