Abstract

A lot of research related to the digital quantity and time perceived that will be influenced by the size of the numerical value when the duration of the digital stimulation perception, tend to underestimate the duration of the smaller number, the tendency of the duration of the larger number to overestimate. Walsh (2003) proposed a number theory that the cognitive system may exist in a number of a universal system, time, space, and the number may be is its integral part, and the mutual interference may exist between the various quantitative composition. The purpose of this study was to test the time perception is influenced by the number of information and how it affects. Experimental one, four different kinds of information about the number of alternative digital information about the number of previous studies only use as experimental stimuli, is designed to test the broader number of time perception is similar to the digital size of the impact on the perception of time. To be in the center of the screen, subjects were presented one pair length is not equivalent to the number of one stimulus requirements Subjects were asked to press the corresponding button judgments before and after the duration of the two orders of stimulus which longer (or shorter), the results show that when number of stimuli and their presentation time (in large quantities - the longer the duration, the number of small - shorter duration), response error rate was low; stimulate the quantity and duration of inconsistencies (in large quantities - continued short time, a small number - longer duration), reaction was a high error rate. This phenomenon shows that, in the judgment stimulus presentation duration, tend to rely on the number of stimulus size. To further study the different quantity is how it affects the perception of time or number of what kind of time perception more dominant, the design of the second experiment paradigm. In the second experiment, the abstract number and the actual number of the dominant presence of the experimental stimuli, still require time before and after the stimulus presentation were asked to judge which longer (or shorter). The results show that when the actual number of stimulus and its presentation time (large quantities - the longer the duration, the number of small - shorter duration), reaction test error rate is low; stimulate the actual number and duration inconsistent, reaction test error rate (in large quantities - the shorter the duration, the number of small - longer duration). Experiment II This result seems to indicate that were ignored almost abstract quantitative information exists, but on the size of the actual number of time to judge, that is, the actual number of time perception may be greater than the abstract number of time perception . To Surer Experiment II found, experiments in the two of the three experiments shows the actual number of font size to the number of the target stimulus, but experimental results still show and experimental results of two similar. This is even more certain that the actual number of time perception may be greater discovery than abstract quantity of time perception.
