Abstract


Reading strategies learning English is an important part of strategy , this paper aims to non- English majors reading strategies usage research to discuss reading strategies on reading achievement effects , and thus have implications for college English reading teaching . This paper uses both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Research tool is used questionnaires and interviews reading test . Using SPSS17.0 software to survey data, relevant statistical analysis . Descriptive statistics (Descriptive Statistics) for all students metacognitive strategies and cognitive strategies were analyzed and compared the frequency of use ; using correlation analysis (Correlate Analysis) statistical methods to discuss reading strategies and the correlation between reading achievement ; with independent samples T-test (Independent-samples T-test) analysis of high- and low- level students grouping usage policy differences. Qualitative research in reading scores for two persons and two low scores read case studies , through personal interviews and review process in the form of answers to questions read to learn more about the situation of students to use a variety of strategies . The main conclusions of this study : non-English majors frequency of use of reading strategies for middle level ; reading strategy use and reading achievement positive correlation exists between ; grouping students of high and low scores on the strategies used by the students there are significant differences . According to the results of experiments , we suggest teachers should teach the theory of reading strategies , emphasizing the importance of effective use of reading strategies . Teachers should help students improve their awareness of the use of strategies .
