Abstract


With the application of some new technologies, such as visualization technology, multimedia technology, virtual reality, network technology and so on, cartographic products are developing with a trend of visualization, digitization and diversification, The product kinds tend to be increasingly abundant. Multimedia electronic atlas is an outstanding one among the new cartographic products. It has played an important role in the development of atlas, and is now making irrepealable effects in varieties of application fields.As the exhibition of multimedia electronic atlas, user-interface has gained abundant attention in atlas research and design. Nowadays, few researches have been done to design user-interface for multi-media electronic atlas, most of which just simply interpret its importance and design methods. The design principles of these researches are too sketchy and less of maneuverability, so they could hardly be used to practically guide the user-interface design. Thus, there are still lots of problems worthy of discussion on design theory, user-interface and interactive design of multimedia electronic atlas. Accordingly, this paper makes an exploring research on user-interface design for multimedia electronic atlas and its design principles.The paper makes a basic theory research on user-interface design for multimedia electronic atlas, including relational conceptions and basic theory, and discusses the directive effect of cartographic perception theory and design art psychology.The paper discusses key problems existing in many researches and practical production designs for user-interface. From the view of cartographic perception theory and design art psychology, the paper studies the design of icon, interface layout and interface color, etc.The paper exploringly applies the visual perception experiment of user-interface into the user-interface design of multimedia electronic atlas. It combines the analysis conclusion of experimental data with cartographic perception theory and design art psychology in order to put forward design principles of practical feasibility.The paper brings the design principles into practical design of atlas. It validates the need of theory research, the scientific quality of combing theory research with experimental conclusion, and also the feasibility of design principles.Finally, the paper makes a general conclusion and also pointed out some shortcomings in the paper as well as the further research.
