Abstract


With the development of parallel corpora, the related software has been developing. As a new special software of parallel corpora, integrated with functions of parallel corpus compiling and concordancing, Conparat (Platform for Concordancing Parallel Texts) adopts corresponding units alignment and three concordancing methods (Literal, Wild Card, Regular Expression) and can be used for parallel corpus compiling and concordancing for corpus-based translation study.This paper aims to test and evaluate the functions of Conparat for its further improvement. Thus, this paper introduces the functions of Conparat in details at first. Then adopting indicator evaluation and testing methods, based on the functional characteristics of the Conparat and requirements of parallel corpus-based study, this paper tests Conparat with texts of environment protection laws. For its compiling function, intelligent match and manual match are mainly tested and evaluated. For its cocordancing function, concordancing of words, special structures and concordancing result display are mainly evaluated. So, the two kinds of functions of Conparat are individually evaluated and. some suggestions are put forward for its improvement.
