Abstract


The new cultural conflict makes the conbination between nation and culture more and more insicive. All the countries in the world are seeking outlets for their native designs. China is also no exceptional. It is well-known that Chinese are good at application of color. The color red which is the significant represent in the vast Chinese color is undoutlessly the essece of the ancestors, achievement and the cultural factor. As the simbolc color representing the conuntry image, the color red affects the Chinese color tendency and the color use custom deeply, which enables the Chinese color performance has not only homoplasy with the west but also bright individuality.If color can be regarded as the product expression, in a sense, to grasp the product color can be equal to grasp the product emotional exprssion. So it is very important to grasp the application method of the color red in Chinese design, which means the Chinese cultural expression can be grasped.Through the review of the Chinese color historical origin, this paper conceals why the color red lies in a special historical status in China. With the different understandings between west and China, the application performance of ’China red’ is discussed to seek the general utilization rule in the modern design.In the end of the paper, from the point of design culture and natione, the way how the ’China red’ displays the mordern national spirit and shows the real ’national color’ are dicussed.
