With the slogan of "deadweight in freight and high speed in passenger transport" has been bring forward by the Ministry of Railways, the standard of locomotive is becoming more and more strict to railway transport nowadays. In order to adjust the trend of the development in the railway transport, our factory collaborates with Bombardier which is located in Canada to manufacture the new electrical locomotive:HXD3B.As the new electrical locomotive, which is made by the world-class manufactured company and our factory, however, its transformer is designed and manufactured by our factory alone, in addition, at present the fruits have passed the examination of authoritative inspection organization which is called ShenYang Quality Monitoring Centre. Compared with the transformer of the old HXD3, the advancement is higher power, smaller size and. better radiating.In the process of designing, our technical staff has conquered many difficulties, such as the limitation of the appearance and dimension, the precision of short circuit impedance, the layout of the three electric reactors, and so on. In addition, through standardizing the production-manufacturing, our transformer has many benefits compared with other company, that is smaller size、lightweight、higher volume、better nature and soon. Therefore, it can meet design requirement and loading requirement at the same time.In the paper, through the comparison between HXD3 and HXD3B, firstly the paper discussed the good points of HXD3B from design and craft aspects,resulting,in giving readers a qualitative cognition on HXD3B. Secondly, the author makes an introduction:about coil,iron core, clamping washer and so on. Coil introduction is include the definition of winding operation, the choosing of the wire, the design of some parameters (axial size、current density、impedance voltage and so on). Iron core introduction include the sieving, the definition of some parameters, laminated craft and so on. The introduction about clamping washer is its structure and the pole in oil circulating system. Through,all introduction talked above, readers will know HXD3B much more. Finally, the paper introduced the key point in this design, that is the design about oil circulating system and some important craft.Because this is the begin column in our country, it is necessary; to analysis the designed idea and manufactured craft of the transformer.In addition,we should find shorts for preparing to improve it at any time in future.
