The Relationship of Flt-1, PDGFR, bFGFR and Angiogenesis to the Biological Behavior of Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract


Objective To investigate the relationship of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor(Flt-1),platelet-derived growth factor receptor(PDGFR), basic fibroblast growth factor receptor (bFGFR) and angiogenesis to the biological behavior of gastric carcinoma(GC). Methods 71 cases of GC,29 cases of paracarcinoma tissues and 39 cases of normal gastric tissues were examined by using immunohistochemistry for the expression of angiogenic factor receptor and microvessel density (MVD). Results The positive rates of Flt-1,PDGFR and bFGFR were 53.5%,49.3% and 50.7% respectively, were significantly higher in patients with paracarcinoma and normal tissues(P<0.01).The high positive expression of three receptors had significant by positive correlation with TNM stage, regional invasion, lymphatic and blood stream metastasis in GC. But there were no correlation with the tumor size, histology type and differentiation degree. The MVD counts in GC and paracarcinoma were 45.2±15.2 and 35.1±5.0 respectively, the high positive expression of MVD had correlate with TNM stage, regional invasion and lymphatic and blood stream metastasis in GC. There were significant correlation among the expression of Flt-1, PDGFR and bFGFR. The incidence rates of lymph mode metastasis and blood metastasis with all three angiogenic factor receptors positively expressed, or all three negatively expressed were 91.7% and 58.3% respectively, 68.2% and 18.2%. The MVD counts in GC tissues of above mentioned two kinds were 60.5±18.0、40.4±5.1. be significantly correlation with growth, invasion and metastasis of GC. The three receptors together may play coordination role in angiogenesis, invasion. The three receptors may be used as promising targets for antiangiogenesis treatment of GC.
