Abstract


Li Yu-qiu, a famous composer, dedicated his life to the composition of China’s accordion music. He successfully composed a series of accordion pieces, including the Suite of the Impression of Clay Figurine in Hui Shan Mountain. He so ingeniously combined Western composition techniques with China’s national music, which made his accordion music works trenchancy and clear. Li Yuqiu’s pieces play an important role in China accordion music works, and is of high value in instruction and performance.This paper is about Yuqiu’s composition of Chinese accordion music works. It introduces the works of Li Yuqiu first, then carefully analyses the characters of his composition. The characters and performance techniques of Meditation and a Passionate Song and The Types of Facial Makeup in Beijing Opera, which are two rather typical works of Mr. Li, are particularly discussed.
