Abstract


In the competitive scenario of tomorrow it won’t just be one company directly competing against another; it will be the chain in which that company resides competing against the chain in which its competitor resides. Indeed, the effective supply chain management can strength the competitive advantage. The function of coordination and control can well balance demand and supply. This thesis is focus on studying the coordination and control in Philips Lighting Luminaire (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. with the introduction of supply chain management theory and technique.Before beginning with the coordination and control of the supply chain, it should be analyzing Philips’components portfolio, and matching it with supplier’s view. Base on supply position analysis, there are three types of relationship Philips will have with each suppliers: Partnership, Preferred and Commercial. Different supplier should be treated differently. From the suppliers’point of view, there are four types of customers: Core, Developing, exploitation and no-value. Then, integrate two views and implement an appreciate purchasing method.Another emphases of supply chain coordination and control is to optimize demand resource. The absence of the common communication platform and effective mechanism between supply chain and marketing, which lead to the demand information can not be shared through the whole supply chain. So, the key to optimize demand resource is to seam the demand information with marketing. One important method is to analyze the product portfolio (Cash Cow, Dog, Question Mark and Star) on the marketing point of view and combine the effective method of demand control.The introduction of United Stock will also be an effective method to coordinate and control the balance of demand and supply. Furthermore, this thesis will table a proposal on the rationality of the lead time with linking the theory of management economics.
