Abstract


The education has great contributions to economic development.Thedomestic scholars have made a lot of researches of this area.The resultsof the literature search, Researches on education and economicdevelopment of Guizhou Province, as well as relevant aspects of theresearches are few.Needless to say,Using scientific and effective methodsof econometrics to estimate the contributions of Gui Zhou highereducation to economic growth,A similar article also was a few.As thehighest level of education, the ultimate goal of higher education is toimprove the quality of the manpower of the whole society .Therefore, theeffects of Higher Education to the regional economic growth and socialprogress will become more prominent.In Guizhou Province, the level ofhigher education’development and level of economic development are verylow.So it is need to calculate the contributions of Guizhou ProvinceHigher Education to economic growth, then to make appropriate analysisand to make relevant recommendations.Taking Guizhou Province as the object of empirical analysis and Usingall aspects of datas of Guizhou Province higher education and regionaleconomic growth from 1989 to 2008. This paper makes qualitative andquantitative analysis of the relationship between higher education andregional economic growth in Guizhou Province,and estimates thecontribution of Guizhou Province higher education to regional economicgrowth, then summarizes the empirical conclusions, finally analyzes thecauses and makes suggestions.On the basis of concepts of higher education, economic growth theory,as well as calculation methods of the contribution of education oneconomic growth.This paper integrated uses the theories and methods ofeconometrics, political economy, economics of education,systematicallyand comprehensively,analyzes the relevant aspects of the higher educationand economic development in Guizhou Province.First of all,this articledescribes thes tatus of Guizhou Province Higher Education and economicdevelopment, and makes qualitative analysis of the relationship betweenhigher education and economic growth.The paper includes two parts: First, the causality test of Guizhou Higher Education growth and economicgrowth .The second is the calculation of the contribution about highereducation on economic growth.Finally, based on the conclusions ofempirical research,The researcher analyzes the reasons, and puts forwardpolicy recommendations to promote the contribution of Guizhou highereducation development on economic growth.
